Kariega Game Reserve was filled with the excited chatter of 26 youth from the outskirts of the Joe Slovo informal settlement in Cape Town over the weekend. The group visited with USA actor and film star Texas Battle and was fully sponsored by Kariega.

Two young boys, with the help of their siblings, from Mitchells Plain in Cape Town have been inspired to take action by the story of Thandi’s survival.

We are so excited to share these beautiful pictures. We have two new elephant calves on the reserve and these close-up images were taken by ranger Daniel before they are even a week old.

My first sight of Thandi and Tembi was a very moving experience, knowing all this brave rhino mom has been through. Mix this in with a huge dollop of joy at seeing her healthy little one suckling greedily while ma grazed away calmly and you find your emotions on a real rollercoaster.
