Here are some lovely testimonials from volunteers who joined us between November 2024 to February 2025. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
WOW! AMAZING! We have just completed 4 weeks volunteering and it has been such a privilege to be part of the Kariega Foundation team. It has far far exceeded any expectations we had. The mix of community and conservation work we loved. We had so many highlights I can't list them all. Seeing all the animals up close, observing and recording the data was something very special. Everyday on the reserve was different. Seeing two rhino procedures was unbelievable! Being in the community gave us a real insight into the real Soul Africa, the Kariega Foundation is doing sore fab work and it was an honour to be part of it This whole experience was very special too because of the amazing team you have here! - Alison Harnett from England, 14 October - 11 November 2024 (4 weeks)
Two weeks at Kariega Game Reserve, and yet it feels like a lifetime of memories. We are beyond grateful for the incredible time we've spent here. These days have been nothing short of extraordinary, filled with moments that will stay with us forever. From standing in awe of elephants at arm's length to witnessing the majesty of lions in the wild, every experience was breathtaking. Assisting in the treatment of Thembi, the brave rhino, was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that we will cherish forever. This reserve is truly a slice of paradise, a sanctuary not just for wildlife but for the soul. These two weeks have been a journey of connection, laughter, and learning. It's never easy to say goodbye to a place or the incredible people who make it feel like home. But as we leave, our hearts are full, and we hope our paths cross again someday. - Emma, Doris, Sonja, Sylvie from Germany, 04 November 2024 to 18 November 2024 (2 weeks)
Wildlife and nature has always fascinated me. One of my life goals was to volunteer with wildlife, but in an ethical way. With Kariega, I was able to realise this dream and learn a lot about the different animals, conservation and community work. I will never forget the moment we drove into the reserve for the first time. I was so happy and knew I was in the right place. The following three weeks were full of highlights: being accidentally showered by an elephant, bush walks, swimming in the reserve, collecting elephant dung, sunset with lions and much more. - Jasmin from Germany, 18 November 2024 - 09 December 2024 (3 weeks)
It would be impossible to properly encapsulate this life-changing four week experience in just a few sentences. How can I truly express the humbling hugeness of the elephants! Or the majesty found in the eyes of a lion! Or the joy on the face of a six-year-old
kid when he just gets a ride on your shoulders. This programme shows you the beauty of life. Between the reserve, the community, the beach town, and the people that make this place awesome. You've stolen my heart.
I hope to be back!

The program of conservation and community was perfect for me, seeing the small steps everyone is making to better the world is truly humbling.
