Today is World Animal Day and we wanted to celebrate with our fans by showcasing some of the lessor spotted and lessor profiled animals - maybe not all as impressive as the great African Big 5, but all just as special and beautiful nonetheless.

The Halter Family from Germany recently spent some time at Kariega, and sent us these great safari shots.

At Kariega Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, safari guests are often lucky enough to see a herd of hippo in the river, their heads poking our of the water as they stand in the cool river. Hippo spend most of their days resting in the water, leaving only at night to feed at their preferred grassy locations...
