This short clip was uploaded by documentary filmmaker Rian van der Walt when he recently visited Kariega Game Reserve to shoot for 'Heroes of the Rhino War' - a project in collaboration with the Wilderness Foundation to tell the inspirational and at times heartbreaking stories of the unsung heroes in the war against poaching.

In celebration of National Birding Day today we would like to share some information on a rarely spotted bird that was recently photographed at Kariega Game Reserve by our headranger Jason Friend. The Barred Owlet is known for it's scattered and isolated populations, and their occurrence in the Eastern Cape is particularly intriguing.

Kariega Conservation Volunteers celebrated Children's Day this year by spending the day playing with the students from Farmerfield School. "We played all the games we could possibly think of from our childhood and had lots of fun and great laughs. What a Wonderful Wednesday!"
