The UK Daily Express newspaper recently featured our Kariega lion cubs in their paper.

The Kariega Conservation Volunteers had a fantastic and busy month. February is the hottest time of the year and temperatures were mostly above 30 degrees Celsius. Well done to everyone for enduring the heat and still staying enthusiastic and performing so well!

Today our thoughts go back to that dreadful day two years ago when we found our three rhinos after poachers had attacked them. We think about our unnamed bull that died during the night, the fight for survival and tragic death of Themba and the amazing recovery of Thandi.

One thing that you will definitely see while on safari is a lot of sunrises and sunsets! This is because the best time to view wildlife, and of course photograph them, is around dawn and dusk.

During a recent checkup on rhino Thandi, Dr Fowlds and the Kariega team replaced her tracking collar. The Chipembere Rhino Foundation (CRF) donated the collar and we are very grateful for their ongoing support and generosity.

Being able to capture magic moments in the bush is a great privileged handed to us in the form of smart, high resolution digital cameras. We are lucky that these days, remembering the safari experience through beautiful photographs can be as easy as 'point and shoot' for amateurs and professionals alike. Having said that...
