Kariega Game Reserve, Eastern Cape, South Africa

Congratulations to great ranger and photographer Brendon Jennings, who had two of his images taken at Kariega Game Reserve appear in the UK newspaper, the Daily Telegraph. The images also appeared on the Daily Mail website which can be viewed here.

The images captures a disagreement between male and female, in which they bare their teeth aggressively to one another. This happened after the male lion tried to mate with the female. She was clearly reluctant at the time and the show of aggression was effective in chasing him off. Although males are dominant and stronger, a lioness could definitely do some damage to the male if prompted - he has to be careful and wait till the female is partial to mate.

Well done Brendon on these great image.
