Today is rhino Colin’s seventh month birthday. Colin is the second calf born to rhino Thandi, the incredible poaching survivor and international ambassador for rhino conservation. This video reflects a poignant moment where two special families come together on the wide open plains of Kariega Game Reserve.

Bolton Family meets Rhino Thandi and Family

Wayne Bolton and his family are an ordinary South African's going to extra-ordinary lengths to shine light on the plight of rhino. Through the One Land Love It (OLLI) Frontier Rhino Ride they are spreading a powerful message that it is the responsibility of ordinary South Africans to save our rhino so that their extinction does NOT become our legacy. The Bolton family has led by example, with three generations actively involved in the cycle ride through the game reserves in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal.

The Kariega Foundation is proud to be one of the main sponsors of the rhino awareness cycle expedition and it was a deeply moving experience for us to witness the first encounter between the Boltons and Thandi, Thembi and Colin. Unspoken, yet tangible, words of love, support and encouragement were passed between man and animal, giving each renewed stamina and conviction to play their part in saving and protecting the rhino species.

We encourage you to follow the Bolton family’s progress on the final leg of their OLLI Frontier Rhino Ride and offer your support for a great family and a critical cause. Thank you.
